I have been breeding poultry for several years: chickens, ducks, geese ... But I am especially attentive to turkeys. By adopting some simple rules and recommendations that I want to share with readers, you can ensure a healthy brood in your yard.

No incubator needed

On the tribe leave 5-7 females and 1 -2 males. I don’t use the incubator: turkeys - caring mothers, hatch eggs diligently and take care of the offspring.

And under the turkeys I place not only turkey eggs, but also goose, duck, chicken — that is, those birds whose livestock in the season should be increased, and native mothers do not want to sit on the eggs in time. Turkey has a peculiar reflex - if it even laid down a sufficient number of its eggs, then after seeing the laying of any eggs indoors, it is necessary to sit on them.

During brooding next to the turkey, I put wheat or shredded meat and clean drinking water.

Turkey life in a box

After 28 days turkeys hatch from eggs. Chicks pick up as they appear in the house in the cardboard boxes. The temperature in the first week of life I support is not lower than +35 degrees, then I gradually decrease to + 25 ... + 28. If at first there is no +35 degrees in the room, I pour boiling water into a rubber medical heating pad, wrap it with a flannel cloth and put it under a box with chicks.

TIP! The temperature in the box where the chicks live, I regulate the height of the litter from the flannel, drape, fleece fabric, using the old coat.

Time for mom

At 3 weeks of age, when the turkey poults get stronger, I transport them to the hen turkey in a warm room without drafts, I arrange them on a bed of hay, straw or sawdust. Pour water into purchased drinkers - turkeys do not get wet and do not sink. In 3-4 weeks in warm weather I let out daily on a paddock with a turkey, gradually increasing the time for walking.

The first two days of my life I give millets to chicks, boiled chopped eggs, cottage cheese, chopped green nettle, dandelion, onion and garlic feathers.

Turkeys - do not get sick!

For the prevention of intestinal disorders and vitamin deficiency, I make three solutions: 1) I dilute 1 tablet of Furazolidone in 1 l of water, 2) dissolve 1 Undevit vitamin pea in 1 l of water, 3) weak (pale pink) solution of potassium permanganate. Live livestock for three days with each solution, alternating them.

At two weeks of age I give each turkey 1 pea of black pepper - good for the stomach. Gradually I begin to feed the chicks with a mash of crushed corn, wheat, barley with the addition of millet and buckwheat chop. All types of grain mix and steam. There add fresh-frozen sprat or capelin, fish oil and greens.

Secrets of growing and breeding turkeys

1. Oats and buckwheat provide up to 70% of turkey protein needs.

2. The needles of pine, spruce and fir is a source of vitamin C in the winter.

3. Acorns, nuts, lard, vegetable oil fill the need for fats in the diet and make turkey meat tender and juicy.

4. Fiber-rich hay and straw in adult turkeys improve digestion.

5. Small turkey poults can be given fresh chopped greens as a source of fiber.

6. After hatching for about 48 hours, turkey poults may not eat and live off the nutrients of the egg from which they hatched.

7. In the first days of life, the chicks grow rapidly, and they need a lot of protein - 25-30% of the total feed.

8. At one month old, poults eat up to 50 g of greens per day, and by six months - up to 150 g.

9. Turkey poults begin to be used at the age of 1-1.5 months.

Growing turkeys right!

I am a livestock specialist by profession, I have been working in the poultry industry for over 30 years. Therefore, I want to tell you how to grow turkeys.

To grow any young birds, the first and very important rule - to properly prepare the room. It should be dry and perfectly clean: you will grow a bird child in it.

The air must be clean, the window leaf must be open. To avoid drafts, tighten it with a gourdron. One chicken needs oxygen as much as one bull.

The light in the room should be such that at the level of the bird's eyes you can read a newspaper.

The litter should be soft: at first turkeys the first time is very soft beak. In the first few days, place food at the level of their eyes, since the first 4 days they see poorly.

It is impossible to lay straws, as a rule, aspergilium flu develops there, which causes the disease aspergillosis. You can lay sawdust, if they are and did not fall under the rain, and on top of paper. It needs to be changed as it gets dirty.

Observe the landing rate: from 1 to 30 days - 12 goals per 1 m 2, from 31 to 60 - 8 per 1 m 2, from 61 to 90 days - 5 per 1 m 2, from 91 to 180 - 3 heads on 1 m 2.

Front (distance) feeding and watering at the age of 1-15 days - 3 cm and 1.3 cm per head, from 16 to 91 days - 5 cm and 2 cm, respectively, from 90 to 180 days - 15 cm feeders and 5 cm drinking bowls .

Temperature conditions

In the 1st week - 35-32’C, in the 2nd - 32-29’C, in the 3rd - 29-27’C.

From the 4th to the 13th week, the temperature is gradually lowered to 20 * С, from the 20th week - 16'С.

In the first month of coverage should be 24 hours. Gradually subtract it, and by three months it should be equal to the light day.

Feeding

If you do not use feed, then the following set of feed.

At the age of 1-4 days of life - wheat (27%), cake or meal (10%), dry milk (3%).

From the 5th day - corn (27%), cake (16%). wheat (22%), fish meal (10%). cockleshell (2.9%), mono-calcium phosphate (0.95%), edible salt (0.3%), vitamin-mineral primex (1%), lysine (0.34 mg), mition (0.13 mg ), vegetable fat (2%).

Now produce very good feed. The first 20 days of feeding need a start, then gradually replace it with growth. If you do not find feed for turkeys, feed will go for the young laying hens. Add 10% of broiler feed, no more, or gout can develop.

Starting from 2.5 months, gradually replace the feed with wheat and by 3.5 months go to it completely. By this time, turkeys will grow corals (growths on the head).

All the time, already from the 2nd day, let's any edible weed. Immediately grind, as you grow - bigger and bigger, and then throw a whole, they will eat. Shell, small gravel, screenings should always be in a separate feeder.

The first time you need to feed 10 times, starting at 5 o'clock, after 1.5-2 hours, and so on until 22.00.

Veterinary events

On day 1, turkeys are drunk with a solution of glucose and ascorbic acid (150 grams of glucose and 2 grams of ascorbic acid per 10 liters of water).

Be sure to vaccinate against respiratory mycoplasmosis (sinusitis) at 30 and 90 days. This disease is common in turkey poults often. It is good to drink them with Tylan (0.5 g per 1 l of water) according to the scheme: the 1st time - at the age of 9-14 days, the 2nd time - 35-40 days, the 3rd - at the age of 90-95 days. Then - 5 days once a month.

Vaccination against the plague - in 14, 35, 60 and 125 days.

From 15 to 70 days of age, a course of 15 days, with an interval of two weeks, give amprolium (0.5 g per 1 l of water for up to 70 days).

From the 30th day until the end of growing once a month with a course of 10 days - metronidazole (this is the prevention of histomoniasis, it is transmitted by the earthworm). Norm -12 g per 10 kg of feed.

Example. In 30 days, one turkey needs 60 g of feed. You have 10 goals. This means that the feed should be 600 g. For 100 g of feed, 120 mg of metrinidazole must be taken. Multiply by 6 (600 g feed): 120 x 6 = 720 mg. Dissolve them in 700 g of water and drink. Also consider another time. If the turkey poults are all drunk, then continue with clean water on these days.

All vaccinations do based on the situation. If the bird among you and the neighbors has never suffered from a plague, then you can not vaccinate against this disease. Amprolium is required to feed, as turkey coccidiosis is very common. And you will not save from histomoniasis if you do not vypivat metronidazole, take a break from adults.

When caring for turkey poults, teach them to voice. I call them: Hurry, hurry !, they respond to this call, come.

After feeding, watch who eats, who does not. Look at the reason (maybe diarrhea or breathing badly) and take action.

Approximate norms of feed for 1 head per day (grams)

I wish you 100% safety of the bird!

Breeding turkeys: a profitable discovery

Do not make a mistake with the choice!

At one time, my parents and their neighbors were breeding turkeys. And in general in the village, everyone had an impressive subsidiary farm with a variety of birds. For a long time she doubted whether to start turkeys or not, as she had heard a lot about the fact that these are naughty birds that require special care.

Still, interest in the unknown outweighed and went to the market for turkey poults.

Bought a dozen 7-week-old incubator chicks.

To begin with, it is best to take 6-8 weeks, because it is from this age that they become unpretentious, one might even say, independent. You shouldn’t buy completely small turkey poults, as they are more capricious than the same broiler chickens. Moreover, at this time the birds are most vulnerable. Even with small deviations from the norms of rearing, young animals almost immediately react with deterioration of their condition.

When choosing turkeys, the hostess was guided by the following rules:

  • the nestling is firmly on its feet, and its fluff is clean, dry, shiny,
  • the wings are pressed to the body, the abdomen is soft and tucked up.

Accommodated with comfort

Of course, the old hen house will be suitable for turkeys, but, beforehand, it must be completely cleaned, sanitized and properly equipped. For large birds and nests with perches should be large: for one individual at least 30 cm of free space on the roost. The turkeys do not tolerate drafts, dampness, therefore, the room should consider the ventilation system. Straw or sawdust will be suitable as a litter - they quickly absorb moisture.

In the summer, in good warm weather, my birds almost freely all daylight walk on the pasture, and when it gets colder or it rains a lot, I let them out only in the spacious courtyard next to the house. Be sure to put the box with sand to turkeys cleaned their feathers from parasites. The hostess cuts young feathers on one wing wing feathers, as turkeys are one of those domesticated birds that have retained the ability to fly.

Menu for great growth

From 9 weeks of age I send turkey poults to an adult population. From this moment they feed them 2 times a day - in the morning and in the evening.

I always give food at the same time - so the birds adapt faster and gain weight. I try to make a full and varied diet. Compound feed basis, but it should not prevail. My turkeys are very fond of fresh green mash, to which I add some homemade cottage cheese. As a prevention of diseases of the digestive system in the morning I add feathery to a couple of handfuls of chopped needles. Be sure to enter into the diet of corn, wheat, limestone, chalk, and even salt. Turkeys, like other poultry, are prone to obesity. Gaining extra pounds, they, like chickens, no longer rush. To prevent this from happening, I give my pets more greens, vegetables and less grains.

For the health of the master is responsible

This species of birds is quite susceptible to various diseases, so the hostess pays special attention to prevention and adheres to three basic rules:

  • high-quality fresh food,
  • good conditions: systematic cleaning and disinfection of the house, lack of drafts in the room,
  • regular inspections of birds.

TIP: Like all birds, turkeys should respond to sound. When buying, lightly tap the box with the chicks. If you ran to knock, they are fine.

Turkey better than incubator

Each poultry farmer sooner or later thought about which chicks are stronger and healthier - bred with a hen or with an incubator. Of course, modern diverse and affordable devices for breeding birds are increasingly attracting farmers, but I am sure that no device can replace a good hen.

Turkey - the perfect mom. It is laid by nature itself. Therefore, if you have a choice, put an incubator or “use the services” of a natural hen, feel free to choose a turkey, because she will take care of all the care for the hatched babies. You only need to feed them on time and in a balanced way, as well as monitor the cleanliness and temperature in the house.

The best time to lay the eggs under the hen is the fifth day after they are laid. I usually select about ten best eggs (a turkey can sit up to 15 pieces at a time). When selecting, I pay special attention to:

Before laying under the hen's eggs I keep the sharp end down.

In the place where the turkey is constantly rushing, I equip the nest. I put a wooden box with low sides, covered with fresh straw (you can also use hay), full feeding trough and watering.

During the hatching too often I do not approach the bird, since excessive attention will only frighten her away. However, I make sure that the hen crawls off the nest to eat food and drink at least once every three days. While she is at the feeder, I check the eggs - I clean the “talkers” and the cracked ones. To hatch from eggs of turkey poults begin on the 27-28th day. Of course, all at once they will not appear. I do not take away the babies from the hen, because if there are no chicks near the turkey, it becomes restless, and sometimes aggressive.

TIP: The size of the box under the slot should be not less than 60 × 60 cm. You can use other containers. The main thing is that the bird can freely climb into the nest and easily leave it.

How to “raise” a turkey

It is believed that the turkey is very capricious in the care, it is difficult to grow to slaughter weight, so many poultry farmers are afraid to start this wonderful bird.

But I believe that in fact there is nothing complicated.

I am pleased to share my experience of growing this feathered “heavyweight”.

In our farm, we use two types of incubators - preliminary and excretory. It is very convenient and practical. In the preliminary temperature is constantly kept at 37.8 °, humidity - 50-55%, in the process of incubation, we report eggs. 5 days before hatching, we transfer eggs to hatchery incubators, where we set the temperature to 37.6 ° C, humidity 60%. Daily we lower the temperature and raise the humidity: 4 days before the incubator leaves 37.5 °, the humidity is 65%, 3 days before the output - 37.4 °, the humidity is 70%, when the pressure is set, the temperature is 37.2 °, and the humidity is set maximum (in our case 85%). Increased humidity is necessary to make the turkey easier to break the shell.

The hatch takes place within 24 hours, during this time we get the chicks three times, and after that we turn off the incubator. As they say, who did not, he was late. The poults born after a day are usually very weak, and it takes a lot of time and money to raise them. If the hatching egg is of high quality, then the output is more than 80%. I think this is a good result.

As soon as we pulled the turkey out of the incubator, immediately give it a few drops of a solution of a special complex of vitamins from the pipette. This is done to ensure that the chick as soon as possible earned the digestive system. It is very important to observe the dosage, because vitamins can bring not only benefit, they can also poison the young. Food and water set almost immediately. Feeders use bunker (under the bank). First we put the drinkers in vacuum, and after two days you can replace them with nipple ones. Also we pour a little feed on the floor so that the chicks quickly find the feeder.

There is an opinion that small turkey poults have a soft beak, therefore, soft rags should be laid in the feeder. I think this is a delusion. We do not use any litter. The only thing you need to pay attention to is the lighting. The first two days the turkey poults do not see very well, they need light more brightly. We maintain the temperature up to a week of age within 30-32 °, then lower every week by a few degrees, bringing the month to 18-20 °.

Some poultry farmers believe that turkeys need to be fed with an egg, millet. There are even those who give turkey bread with milk, and then wonder why the chicks die. The digestion of birds differs significantly from the digestive system of mammals, and what animals can do should not be given to birds (especially for chicks). Some feathered feeds are not digested or harm their bodies. It is easiest and safer to feed the chicks with a full-feed, that is, compound feed. Compound feed intended for turkey poults from the first day of life is marked with PK11. In some

regions (for example, in ours) there is no such feed. Therefore, we replace it with PK5, which is used to grow broilers. I want to draw the attention of the poultry farmers to the fact that the quality of the feed depends on the integrity of the manufacturer. If you doubt the quality of the product, then talk with colleagues in your region, find out what feed they use. Examine the quality indicators of feed, be sure to pay attention to the shelf life. In overdue mixed feed accumulate toxins that the bird can poison.

I also want to warn the owners of the birds about the various "delicious-nis" - additives to the feed. Do not get carried away by them, there is always the risk of bringing with them some infection. And there is a danger that turkey poults, having tasted a delicacy, will refuse the main feed and this will create additional problems for you.

Up to a month we feed our chicks with PK5 feed, then gradually transfer them to PC2 (for chickens), and after two months - on pig feed and feed them until slaughter. After three months, we also add a grain mixture to the feed (about 30%).

The first 5 days of turkey poults are either in brooders (size 70 × 100 cm) or in cages. On the net we lay the diaper. Until the 10th day of life, the lighting of the chicks works around the clock, and then we turn off the light at 10 pm and turn on at 7 am. Feed in the feeders should be constantly, it is also necessary to monitor the purity of drinking water.

When the turkey poults are one month old, we carry out prophylaxis against worms, and then from histo-monosis. Once a month we give coccidiostatics. We try not to abuse antibiotics in our economy, because they kill not only pathogenic bacteria, but also useful ones. But I advise you not to forget about vitamins. This is especially true for heavy poultry poults. We regularly “treat” chicks with vitamin preparations (of course, while respecting the norm), until fresh grass appears in their diet.

Turkey slaughter at certain times: from 5 months - “girls”, and from 6 months - “boys”. In younger birds, the feather is very poorly removed.

Turkey, tasty and tender, not for nothing is considered a dietary product and is always appreciated by buyers. Our farm received offers of cooperation from farm stores, but their purchase prices were not particularly pleased. But the proposal from the recreation center, located nearby, we are quite satisfied.

In part, I agree with the author of the article.

The bird is different from mammals (which include all domestic animals) in the digestive system. And with the digestion of just the health of birds. Do not forget that the metabolism of a bird is much faster than that of mammals. This means that birds should be fed regularly, especially when winter comes. Turkey poults are much more sensitive to improper feeding than the young of any other bird. As the author of the article points out, it is better not to experiment with homemade food, but to buy ready. If you are not ready to spend hours studying books on feeding and poultry, this will be the best option. But be careful with the finished feed.

I would not advise using feed for pigs and those intended for chickens and other birds. If there is no special turkey feed in your area, you can use chicken feed. But keep in mind that a turkey needs more protein than any other bird. Treat the hatched turkeys with care and attention. Still, I think it is important to teach them to eat. Gently, but confidently immerse their beaks in the water bowl, and then lift their heads. Feed is also better to give at first by hand. Do not forget about feed sand for young birds.

Tips from the "turkey"

  1. Before withdrawing poults of heavy crosses, lay a non-slip carpet backing in the incubator trays. Use such a coating for polo in brooder. This will help prevent "splits" in chicks.
  2. Be sure to ensure that the poultry area increases as the living space increases, otherwise the pecking will begin.
  3. Turkey poults are very conservative in food. Therefore, always transfer the poultry to a new feed gradually (within 7-8 days), adding it in small portions to the old one.

Keep turkeys profitable!

Mikhail STRAKHOVSKY from Tolochin once worked as a collective farm chairman. When retired, carried away by breeding domestic turkeys. And did not lose!

Only statistics In 2016, Mikhail Ivanovich kept 6 turkeys, in 2017 - 10. This year I wanted to bring the livestock to 50 (said: “I will grow fifty turkeys - and take my wife to Egypt!”), But the family resisted Council decided to stop at 20 birds.

The average weight of the carcass in 2016 was 23-25 kg, in 2017 - about 22 kg (turkeys prevailed). His wife, Galina Vasilievna, calculated that for all the time they spent about $ 125 on food (excluding work), and the profit reached $ 600.

Turkey poultry Mikhail Ivanovich bought on May 12 and grew 5.5 months. Chose the white breed Big 6

and did not lose. These birds are real champions in weight, omnivorous and with docile temperament.

In the garden he made a pen of 20 × 15 m for day birds. Inside he enclosed the aviary for kids. We spent the night turkey in the barn.

Why drink turkey poults

Even if the breeder adheres to all the necessary requirements regarding the diet and conditions of young animals, it is possible the death of the bird. This is due to the fact that turkeys are susceptible to intestinal as well as infectious diseases. The herd population may be significantly reduced due to paratyphoid fever, pullorosis, infectious sinusitis, or banal diarrhea. The bird begins to lag behind in growth or completely perishes. In such cases, the owners resort to watering.

  • increase the survival rate of chicks by 60-65%,
  • grow quickly and gain weight
  • strengthen the immune system
  • increase appetite
  • increase the activity of the bird.

Features of feeding poults

In order to avoid the death of turkeys, you must have on hand a first aid kit for all occasions. But it is better to start with prevention.

Any drug should be given to the bird in a clear pattern, especially for antibiotics. Non-systemic administration does not produce any results, but only destroys the intestinal microflora, causing constipation or diarrhea.

The scheme is strictly individual for each breed of turkeys. It also depends on the health of the parents of the poults, the quality of the food, the amount of light and the conditions of detention. On the basis of these factors, a specific scheme for feeding poults is being developed.

What and how to feed turkey poults

Auxiliary drugs are introduced to young animals from the first days of their life, even if the seed is strong and healthy. Some farmers refuse to use drugs, arguing that such an intervention negatively affects the quality of meat and eggs.

How to drink turkeys in the first days of life depends on the breed and condition of the chicks. Birds need:

  1. Mineral and vitamin complexes. They contribute to the growth and strengthening of the immune system. Such drugs provide a growing body with all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Begin reception in the first days of life. The course is about a week. Vitamins of group B, which are part of the complexes, establish the process of assimilation of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, thereby contributing to the growth of muscle mass and skeleton. Vitamin D is the prevention of rickets in young chicks. Vitamins A and E improves enzymatic and hormonal synthesis.
  2. Antibiotics prevent the development of pathogenic microflora. Taking these drugs in the first days of life reduces the risk of developing diseases and epidemics among the livestock of turkeys. It is necessary to be careful with antibiotics and feed poults strictly according to a certain scheme, otherwise the use of these drugs can cause dysbacteriosis.
  3. Immunomodulators help strengthen the immune system and increase the body's resistance to infections. Taking these drugs allows you to grow a strong and healthy turkey population.
  4. Probiotics are used in combination with antibiotics, to prevent the development of candidiasis and dysbiosis in young poults. Also, these tools improve the digestive system during the first month of life.

There is a definite schedule to follow to get healthy youngsters. Some breeders resort to taking antibiotics on the first day of chick life, but this is wrong. The turkey is born with a sterile intestine, which is populated by beneficial bacteria for several days. They are directly involved in the process of digestion, so their presence is so important for the body. Antibiotics tend to suppress not only pathogenic bacteria, but also those that are normally found in the intestines of a bird. For this reason, the optimal period for drinking turkeys with antibiotics will be 3-5 days of life.

The main mortality among chicks is observed on day 12-14, which means that by this time it is better to finish the first course of antibiotics and, if necessary, start the second one. Also, regardless of the age and condition of the chicks, it is better to add potassium permanganate in a small amount to the water so that the water turns slightly pink. Drinking a rich color can burn the mucous membranes of the mouth and esophagus. In addition to potassium permanganate, during a period of cooling or an outbreak of respiratory diseases in poultry, it is recommended to add a couple of drops of iodine to the water. For the same purpose, chicks can be fed with iodinol.

Preventive medication for feeding turkeys

Proper medication will save livestock

In order to properly feed the chicks and get healthy offspring, you need to know exactly what drugs need to be given. The correct scheme of reception and its strict observance will help the poultry farmer to save livestock.

Farmazin produced in the form of a white powder. It is mixed with water and put containers with a solution in the shade, as the active substance decomposes under direct sunlight. Use 1 gram of powder per liter of water. The drug is given according to the scheme 1-3 day, 28-29 day, 57-58 day. It has a detrimental effect on streptococci, staphylococcus, micropasma and clostridia.

Baytril is a very effective drug to fight bacteria as well as salmonella. Available drug in the form of a light yellow solution. The course of feeding young animals with medicine is as follows: 3-5 days 0.5 milliliters per 1 liter of water, 17-18 days 0.5 milliliters per 1 liter of water, and on 55 days 1 milliliter per 1 liter of water.

Amprolium is used to prevent coccidiosis, a dangerous disease for young turkeys. It spreads rapidly and contributes to the loss of the entire herd. The drug is available in the form of a white or slightly yellowish powder. It has a rather specific taste, thereby scaring the chicks from the water, for this reason it is preferable to add it to the feed. Starting from the second week of life, add 3 grams of powder per 10 kilograms of feed for 7 days. Re-drug is introduced into the feed from 43 to 49 days.

Levometsitin and tetracycline antibiotics, which can be purchased at a regular pharmacy. They are not inferior to specialized veterinary drugs, but they cost much less, which reduces the cost of raising poultry. 1 tablet is diluted in 1 liter of water. In order for the medicine to completely dissolve it, it is necessary to grind it carefully in a mortar. It is not recommended to take out turkey poults in the first days, they inject drugs in the period from 1 to 2 weeks.

Metronidazole is a universal remedy for feeding young animals. Apply it from 21 days as a prophylaxis of histomoniasis. This dangerous disease is almost impossible to treat and leads to the death of most or even the entire herd. The main method of dealing with histomoniasis is its prevention. To do this, 0.5 grams of the drug is dissolved in 1 liter of drinking for poults. The course is 9 days. On day 41, the birds are re-disappearing.

Vetom is a probiotic that contributes to the preservation of intestinal microflora during the period of taking antibiotics. It also stimulates humoral and cellular immunity. It is introduced into the water in the drinkers during the feeding of livestock with antibiotics.

Chiktonik is a complex drug. It contains a daily rate of vitamins, trace elements and amino acids, thereby contributing to the proper development in the first 3-4 months of life of poults. This vitamin complex also acts as an appetite stimulant and improves the condition of feathers.

Glucose is used to increase the viability of chicks in the early days. It costs a penny, but is actively used by breeders for feeding turkey poults.

Iodinol is an excellent way to increase the body's immune strength in chicks. It is rarely given in pure form, often diluted with a few drops in a liter of boiled water or saline. Iodinol turkeys are drunk from the first day of their life.

What to do with turkey poults if they get sick

If timely prevention of poults has not been made and the bird is sick, it is urgent to take measures to eliminate the cause and symptoms. The first manifestation of most diseases in the first 2-3 months of chick life is diarrhea, and refusal to eat. The turkey becomes lethargic, most of the time it sleeps or sits separately from the rest of the herd. There are several differences by which you can recognize a sick chick among its healthy counterparts. If you look closely, the difference becomes noticeable even to an inexperienced poultry farmer.

The main needs of turkeys in the process of growth

In fact, the owners do not have much trouble in growing turkeys. In order to create a comfortable life for the chicks and opportunities for normal growth, it is necessary to provide them with the following:

  • dry bedding
  • proper heating and compliance with the required temperature,
  • balanced feed
  • enough light
  • timely treatment and prevention of possible diseases.

Aviary for poults - Life in the village

Turkey chicks, like other small birds, can be affected by various diseases. For this reason, preventive measures should be carried out in a mandatory manner according to a specific scheme. And in case of illness, the poultry farmer should always have on hand the necessary veterinary preparations. Let us consider in more detail how to drink turkey poults from the first days.

What is the chicks lost?

When growing turkeys, it is necessary to take measures to provide the birds with all the necessary nutrients and to prevent various diseases. Veterinary pharmacies have a large assortment of different preparations for poultry. So, what do chicks need for healthy growth? It is recommended to take away the birds with the preparations of the following groups:

First Aid Kit for Turkey Poults

  1. Antibacterial agents (Baytril, Enroksil, Tromeksin). Antibiotics are necessary in order to protect the still young organism of chicks from various diseases that provoke mortality.
  2. Vitamin complexes (Chiktonik, Trivit, Nutril-selenium). For healthy growth and immunity, chicks should receive all the necessary vitamins, minerals, macro and trace elements. This will increase the resistance of poults to diseases and severe infections.
  3. Preparations for protection against coccidiosis and other dangerous diseases (Amprolium, Toltarax, Baikoks). Like all birds, turkey chicks are susceptible to invasive diseases. One of the most dangerous is coccidiosis, which affects the gastrointestinal tract of a bird and can be transmitted to other individuals through a feeder or drinker. 50% of chickens ill with coccidiosis die. The most effective drug to combat this disease is Baycox.

In addition, it is necessary to give turkey poults and probiotics, for example, Vetom. This will protect the chicks from dysbiosis after taking antibacterial agents, improve the digestive system and support immunity. Vetom can be given to chicks from day one.

Consider in stages how to drink turkeys.

First days

In the first 5-7 days of life, chicks should be given antibiotics by adding them to the water. This will help prevent the development of possible diseases. Among the many similar drugs, Enroxil has proven itself well. It effectively fights pathogenic bacteria.

the approximate composition of feed after singing young

The form of release of the drug, as a rule, dark glass vials or plastic containers. Enroxil is given to the poults along with drinking water in a proportion of 5 ml per 10 liters of water. The daily intake dose is not more than 10 mg per 1 kg of weight.

From the 8th to the 20th day

Trivit for turkey poults

After the birds are taken with antibiotics, vitamin complexes are required, for example, the drug Trivit. This is a vitamin complex that contributes to the enrichment of the body of chicks with all the necessary substances, and also normalizes metabolic processes and prevents beriberiosis.

How to give chicks Trivit? There are 2 options for using this medication. You can dissolve it in water, 1 ml 1 time per day, or administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly 1 time in 7 days for 1 month.

Before using the drug, it is necessary to carefully study the instructions; if used incorrectly, Trivit can cause harm to chicks.

From the 30th to the 120th day

During this period, the prevention of various infectious diseases. For these purposes, you can use drugs Trihopol and Metranidazole, which will protect the livestock.

The scheme of use of drugs is as follows: the drug is given with a drink in a dosage of 0.5 grams per 1 liter of water. Birds need to be soldered for 10 days, then take a break for such a time and repeat the course.

How to carry out prevention of coccidiosis

It is possible to carry out measures to prevent coccidiosis from the fortieth day of life. To do this, it is best to use Baikoks, eliminating at the time of his admission multivitamins. This drug will protect birds from parasitic diseases that lead to high mortality among young.

Probiotics are necessary for chicks to protect against a variety of disorders in the digestive system.

For these purposes, the drug Vetom, which has powerful immunomodulatory, antiviral and antibacterial properties, is perfect. Vetom helps to normalize metabolic processes in the body of the bird, improves digestion and strengthens the immune system.

Consume poults with this drug should be according to the scheme, with strict adherence to instructions for use.

Vetom needs to be dissolved in water, in a proportion of 5 grams of the drug per 3 liters of water and to be fed to the chicks for 7 days. Then a break is taken for 30 days.

What to give to poults with diarrhea

Diarrhea in turkeys

Diarrhea in turkey poults happens quite often. As a rule, this happens because of poor-quality feed, but sometimes it is a sign of illness. Diarrhea differs in color depending on the cause of its occurrence.

In such cases, measures should be taken immediately, it will help to save livestock. You must do the following:

  • isolate a sick bird
  • take steps to clean and disinfect,
  • change feed
  • to feed the chick.

As a means for feeding it is best to use iodinol. This tool is very effective in digestive disorders in birds, has a wide spectrum of action and a high degree of antimicrobial activity, and Iodinol reduces inflammation and helps to restore metabolic processes in the body.

In the treatment of diarrhea, Iodinol is used in pure or diluted form. In order to feed the chick, the diluted is better suited.

Dilute Iodinol can be with the help of water or saline in a ratio of 1: 2 and the turkey is soldered 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 3-4 days. It should be borne in mind that the daily dose of the drug should not exceed 1.5 ml per 1 kg of bird weight.

Compliance with all rules will allow turkeys to grow healthy, and minimize the number of poultry mortality.

Have you ever experienced unbearable joint pain? And you know firsthand what it is:

  • inability to move easily and comfortably,
  • discomfort when going up and down stairs
  • an unpleasant crunch, a crack not at will,
  • pain during or after exercise,
  • inflammation in the joints and swelling,
  • unreasonable and sometimes unbearable aching pain in the joints.

And now answer the question: does it suit you? Is it possible to endure such pain? And how much money have you already “leaked” to ineffective treatment? That's right - it's time to stop with this! Do you agree? That is why we decided to publish an exclusive interview with Professor Dikul, in which he revealed the secrets of getting rid of joint pain, arthritis and arthrosis.

Food - under the feet

It is recommended to feed adult turkeys 4-5 times a day, but Mikhail Ivanovich found out that they do not eat much at once. Birds "come to the table" in several passes, so the owner does not remove the bowl with mash in general and, if necessary, replenishes it.

In eating turkeys unpretentious. In the spring, it crushes nettle for them, dandelion, adds a batun onion and mixes it with compound feed (first bought chicken, now pork). Weeds are also used, in particular, the notorious American woman (small-colored galinsog). Potatoes steamed with flour and also mixed with grass. Gives and fodder beets (including raw, grated, mixed with feed or flour), which is grown specifically for birds. Water in the aviary and the pen is constantly.

Meat is enough for a year

Spouses Strakhovsky admit that they provided themselves and children for a year with dietary meat of turkeys. Prepare a stew (purchased an autoclave for 24 half-liter jars at the same time) and a half-donut, freeze the meat. For polandvitsy use the breast (and this is nothing less than scc!). The tenderloin is thickly sprinkled with salt, seasonings (cumin, dried dill, red ground pepper) and left in a bowl under a lid for 3 days in a warm room. Then in gauze or nylon stocking hung on the balcony so as not to fall the sun, and the meat was dried for a week in the wind and draft. The undiluted is stored in the refrigerator. The slicing turns out to be tastier than the most delicious sausage, which, by the way, the Strakhovskys have not bought for a long time!

I breed turkeys - 30 years without trouble and misfortune!

The one who claims that breeding turkeys is difficult is only partially right: difficulties will arise if you do not listen to the advice of experienced poultry farmers and ignore the recommendations of competent veterinarians.

When buying turkey poults, check whether they are vaccinated against major diseases (Marek and Newcastle diseases, chicken plague, infectious encephalomyelitis, respiratory mycoplasmosis). Be sure to purchase modern drugs for the prevention and treatment of diseases in the vet pharmacy. So, two-week-old birds often have diarrhea. The causes of this disorder lie in poor-quality feed, bacteria and viral epidemics. If the litter of turkey poults is brown or yellow, it is urgent to change the feed. If white is a sign of dangerous diseases of pullorosis or paratyphoid fever.

In the period from one to three months, the livestock can be knocked down by histo-monoses: the liver is affected, the head turns black, and the bird quickly dies. So be prepared that the birds will have to be treated.

It is better not to find henchmen!

I have been breeding turkeys for thirty years and I know that turkey is the best hen. Walking around the site, she will surely find a secluded place somewhere in the bushes, make a cozy nest, lay a dozen eggs, and in a month will bring hard turkey poults. Of course, you can trust

some responsible business incubator, but only when you do not have the opportunity to breed chicks in the traditional way. By the way, if turkeys were bred under the hen on the outside, then at 2 months of age these are already quite large birds, not afraid of cold weather and unpretentious in the diet.

How to feed - and grow

From the first day of turkey poults I give boiled chopped egg, low-fat cottage cheese. After a couple of days, their diet is replenished with chopped garlic leaves and leeks (can be replaced with a pen of a common onion).

I feed up the poults mainly with whole grains, grass, and waste from the table. My birds also grow well on broiler feed. True, I add eggs, cottage cheese and greens to it.

Walk the march!

I give my wills to my turkeys - I do not keep them around the clock in the house. I think many owners will agree with me that the taste of bird meat, freely walking around a plot or meadow, is significantly different from bird meat grown in cages with the help of synthetic additives.

In the fall, I send the turkeys to a walk in the ... garden: I harvest the last harvest from the beds, and the birds - weeds and slugs.

Friendship is friendship, but we live apart

Tried to keep turkeys with chickens and ducks. When all the birds are adults, they do not interfere with each other.

But spring comes, ducks make a nest and carry eggs. Chickens begin to rush to the same nest, and then turkeys join them. Naturally, a larger turkey crushes eggs when it tries to chase a chicken or a duck from its place, while eggs stained with yolk quickly deteriorate and become almost unsuitable for incubation (hatchability drops by 50%). It used to come in the morning, and two turkeys were sitting in the nest, two small chickens were sitting under them, and a pair of ducks was trying to sit next to them.

Even in a separate pen, turkeys are fighting. Because of this, the eggs roll to the side - and as a result weak chicks are bred. Therefore, in the spring during the laying of eggs, I divide in pairs of turkeys (you can put together two turkeys and one male, but leave only one on the nest), I put down ducks and chickens in separate enclosures.

TIP: Periodically I add monthly turkey poults to the water on a tablet of Furazolidone and Trichopol, as they often come in contact with alien birds and can get coccidiosis from them.

Homemade feed with their own hands

I mix 680 g of wheat or corn grain, 130 g of sunflower meal, 80 g of fish meal, 40 g of fodder yeast, 30 g of limestone and chalk, 5-10 g of salt. It turns out 1 kg of balanced homemade feed, which your turkeys will surely like.

Terms of turkey poults

Small chicks are particularly sensitive to cold, so at home, day-old poults should be kept in an open-air cage, where the floor will not be cold. If the chicks are not very many (up to 2 dozen), it is better to use a box with a width of 1 m and a length of 1.5 m with high, not less than 50 cm, sides. At the bottom of the box put a piece of foam, and the top is covered with something warm. At night, it is recommended to put a heating pad with warm water or connect a heating pad.

Before the turkeys reach 7 days of age, the air temperature in the aviary should not be below 35 degrees Celsius. From the second week of life it is gradually reduced to 25 degrees. When the chicks are almost a month old, the daily temperature of about 22 degrees is allowed. However, at night it is important to either install under floor heating or turn on the lights.

Feed for turkey poults

Feed the young chicks only with special feed for poults or broilers, while not moistening it. From supplements use raw millet, which helps to establish the work of the stomach. Cottage cheese is introduced into the diet when turkeys become 1 week old, but not more than 3 g per day for one chick.

Feed turkeys boiled porridge is not recommended.

Feeding poults

To prevent diseases, turkeys are drunk with special preparations according to the following scheme:

  1. In the first two days - with a solution of ascorbic acid based on a liter of water 10 ml of the preparation, as well as sweet water (1 tablespoon of sugar per liter of water). Instead of sugar, you can use an 8% glucose solution.
  2. From the third day to the fifth, inclusive - antibiotics such as Flosan, Baytril or Enroksil. Once a month, the course is repeated for three days.
  3. From 6 to 9 days inclusive - complex vitamins (Chiktonik, Nutril, Trivit).
  4. On the 10th day, in order to protect against coccidiosis, a course of feeding with Baycox or Koktsidiovitom is carried out, which is repeated after 4 weeks.

Starting at the age of 20 days, you should proceed to the prevention of infectious diseases, such as histomoniasis. For this use Metranidazole or Trihopol. Pills (0.5 g) crushed and diluted in 1 liter of water or mixed with a kilogram of feed. Give the drug with water or feed for 10 days in a row, then a break for 10 days. The course is repeated until turkeys reach 3 months of age (at this time they are especially vulnerable to histopathomy).

Features of rearing chicks

Turkey poults of the first days of life

In order for the poults to grow properly, the following conditions must be met:

  • balanced diet,
  • fresh, always dry bedding,
  • optimum temperature,
  • correct light mode
  • therapeutic and preventive measures aimed at fighting infections.

In the first days of chick life, the temperature in the aviary should be at least + 35-37 degrees. Gradually, it is reduced to the parameters of room temperature - in a month it is possible to maintain a temperature of 21 degrees. Air humidity should be about 75% in the first decade of life, then 60-70%.

Aviary for poults

Initially, the illumination should be around the clock, and the brightness of the light should be 35 lux. Next, the intermittent light mode. As soon as chicks are 6 weeks old, daylight should be 8 hours. Light turn on for 4 hours. The first time - from 7.00 to 11.00 and the second time - from 14.00 to 18.00. Brightness may already be small.

The litter should be changed frequently in order to prevent infections, to which the young are extremely sensitive. From the first days of life, chicks should be soldered with nutritious and antibacterial drugs. Proper feeding allows you to increase the survival rate of the herd by 60% and save livestock.

  • ensuring active growth,
  • increasing resistance to infections and the environment,
  • an increase in daily gain,
  • improved appetite
  • increase energy and resilience,
  • normalization of metabolism
  • ensuring proper development and accelerating growth.

Frequent illness in turkey poults

Feeding rules

There is no consensus among poultry farmers about the introduction of antibiotics into the diet. Most experts consider them mandatory to ensure the survival of offspring. However, there are a number of farmers who hold a different point of view. On eco-farms, the use of antibiotics is abandoned for ideological reasons: the owners believe that this affects the quality of meat. In this case, natural antibacterial drugs are used to prevent infections.

Organization of turkey poults

The feeding scheme ultimately depends in each case on the breed of turkeys, the weight of broilers, conditions of detention, the initial state of health of the parents. The rule remains: the larger and heavier the bird, the greater the amount of medication required.

The poultry farmer must remember that it is impossible to give drugs non-systemically. If it was decided to use certain drugs, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the scheme and observe the dosage. Antibiotics should not be given less or more than 3-5 days. The choice of the duration of treatment affects the condition of the birds.

For the prevention of intestinal and gastric diseases, chicks are additionally soldered an additional twice a week with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Potassium permanganate diluted so that the solution had a faint pinkish color. This should pay special attention. If you make the solution more saturated, you can burn the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and cause the birds to feel worse.

Drinking bowls are treated with formalin once a week in order to protect the poults against infection with various infections.

Turkey bowl

Purpose of medications

In the first weeks of life are introduced:

  • vitamin complexes,
  • antibiotics
  • immunomodulators,
  • probiotics.

Each of these types of medicines has its own purpose. Vitamin complexes contain minerals, vitamins, macro and micronutrients that a growing body needs. The appointment of vitamin supplements: strengthening the body, the supply of substances for enhanced growth, increased immunity. As a rule, the course of vitamin therapy does not exceed 1 week of continuous disappearance.

Special antibiotics for birds

Vitamin complexes for poults must include vitamins of groups B, A, E and D. Thanks to vitamins B, the absorption of carbohydrates and proteins is improved and the growth of body weight is accelerated, and A and E contribute to the synthesis of enzymes and hormones. Without vitamin D, chicks develop rickets.

Antibiotics are designed to prevent the development of diseases in young animals and to prevent an epidemic that can cause the mor of all offspring. These drugs fight pathogenic microorganisms and are used in the first days for prophylactic purposes in small doses.

Immunomodulators strengthen the body's resistance to pathogenic flora and increase antiviral resistance. Probiotics protect against dysbiosis and candidiasis, which can develop after exposure to antibiotics. Probiotics can be prescribed simultaneously with antibiotics from the first days of a bird’s life.

Probiotic Supplements for Poultry

Preparations for drinking turkey poults

For the manufacture of solutions for soldering most often used the following drugs:

  • Trichopolum or metrodonizol,
  • farmazin,
  • enroflon,
  • tetracycline,
  • levometsitin,
  • vetom
  • enroksil,
  • baytrip
  • nutril,
  • baykoks.

Farmazin is a drug based on the antibiotic tylosin. It is diluted with a small amount of water - 1 g of powder per 1 l of water. When this solution is evaporated, it is important that the bright sun does not fall on it. Enroflon and Trichopolum, which are effective against most pathogens, have a broad spectrum of action. Enroflon is diluted in a 1: 2 ratio with water.

The antibiotics levometsitin and tetracycline are extremely inexpensive and effective. They can be purchased at regular pharmacies. Their cost is lower than the specialized drug Farmazin. In terms of effectiveness, antibiotics of the tetracycline group are in no way inferior to it. For feeding turkeys, 1 tablet is dissolved in 1 liter of water.

Vetom is an antiviral drug and immunomodulator. It is added to water in the proportion of 1 tsp to 3 l of water.

Effective are specialized drugs baytril, tromeksin, enroksil. They are most often used to prevent mortality in the first weeks of life.

To protect birds from dangerous infections affecting the digestive tract - coccidosis - use baycox, amprolium or toltarax. At the same time, the most effective in this triple is baycox. Protect these funds from other diseases affecting the young and adult birds.

Turkey Feeding Schemes

There are three approaches to the disappearance of antibiotics. Some experts consider it appropriate to enter them immediately from day 1 of life. They are guided by the idea of protecting offspring from possible infections and rely on prevention.

Poultry farmers who refuse to use antibiotics on the first day, believe that these drugs violate the natural maturation of the gastrointestinal tract of birds. An organism is born with a sterile intestinal environment. An antibiotic violates the correct formation of microflora in it and, ultimately, adversely affects the formation of its own immunity. These experts believe that the bet in the first days of the bird’s life should be done on the loss of vitamins and a properly balanced diet. Antibiotics are given only for 5-8 days of life, when the body is stronger, and the internal microflora is almost formed. At the moment, this scheme is the most common among poultry farmers.

There are poultry farmers who oppose the use of antibiotics for prophylactic purposes in growing chickens. Their use is allowed by them only in case of urgent need at the beginning of the incidence. As a rule, such an approach is practiced on ecofarms among apologists for a healthy lifestyle.

The organization of the content and drinking in the first days

It is noticed that the case occurs most often on 10-14 days of the life of the offspring. Therefore, it is precisely at this point that it is necessary to complete the course of feeding chicks. A number of poultry farmers recommend that antibiotics be reintroduced during this period.

Additionally, to strengthen the body's defenses in water, iodine is added in the amount of a few drops. It is recommended to give a solution of iodinol during cooling, dampness, the height of respiratory diseases.

How to choose a means of soldering

Veterinary pharmacies offer a wide range of medications that each turkey needs in order to grow healthy. Among them are such antibacterial drugs as "Tromeksin", "Baytril", "Enroksil". These antibiotics are effective prophylactic agents that help protect poults from disease, and livestock from mortality. Experts recommend purchasing and giving vitamin complexes to pets.

Preparations "Trivit", "Chiktonik", "Nutril-selenium" are composed of all the necessary vitamins, macro-and microelements, minerals. Receiving them for the number of days specified in the instructions will allow pets to be immune to viruses. To protect the young from coccidiosis and a number of other infections, there are drugs "Toltarax", "Baykoks", "Amprolium." It is known that the reception of "Baykoks" makes it possible to prevent the death of half of the birds. This is true in the case of coccidiosis and possible death as a result. Since the disease affects the gastrointestinal tract and spreads through the feeders, as well as drinkers.

Preventive measures against coccidiosis imply the use of “Baycox” starting from the 40th day of the chick's life. During this period, it is better not to give multivitamins. Dilute the drug in the amount of 1 ml per liter of water. This solution of turkey poults solder for 2 days.
It is advised to give youngsters and probiotics such as Vetom. They will help protect pets from dysbiosis at the time of taking antibiotics and after them, to establish the work of the digestive tract, to maintain immunity at the proper level.

The drug "Vetom", which is endowed with antibacterial, antiviral and immunomodulatory properties, is acceptable for use even by daily nestlings. It provides an opportunity to adjust the metabolic processes in the body, improve the process of digesting food and make the immunity as strong as possible. Proper reception of "Vetom" involves dissolving it in water in the amount of 5 grams of product per 3 liters of water. The duration of admission is a week. Then you should definitely take a break for one month. In the instructions for drugs and on special sites you can always find special tables for taking drugs.

What scheme to drink in the first days

Novice farmers are interested in what to eat their turkeys in the first days of their lives, so that they grow up healthy. Turkey poults are given antibiotics. Enroxil is effective during this period. He copes with pathogenic bacteria. The recommended dosage is 5 ml of the drug per 10 liters of water. In the first five days of life, babies can be given antibiotics "Flosan", "Baytril", "Farmazin". This is a preventive measure from the possible development of diarrhea. It is repeated until the chicks reach the age of 5 months. From the moment of birth, the turkeys are fed with ascorbic acid at the rate of 10 ml per liter of liquid. It is acceptable to replace it with glucose. In this case, use 30 grams of product per liter of water.

After taking antibiotics before the age of 20 days, young animals should be given water-soluble multivitamin complexes. Well proven "Nutril" and "Aminovit." Often give and "Trivit." Such a complex of vitamins can be dissolved in water or administered subcutaneously, or do it intramuscularly (once a week and not longer than a month). From the tenth, they carry out a prophylactic reception "Biovita" (from coccidiosis). This multivitamin should be added to the feed, but not more than a week.

From the age of 20, they give Trichopol to pets, the key component of which is metronidazole. Half a gram of this tool will need to be diluted in a liter of water. The initial admission is a week and a half.

From one month of age, young animals are given an antibiotic belonging to the thylan group. It is called Tulosin. Admission is prophylactic in the prevention of respiratory mycoplasmosis. This disease often provokes the appearance of sinusitis and conjunctivitis. The preparation in a dry form should be combined with a dry feed. The proportions are 2 kg of product per kilogram of feed. A three-day reception is required. It is held monthly.

At the age of 40-50 days turkeys are given Metronidazole. Half-tablets of the drug should be added to the main feed. After taking a ten-day break, you need to repeat the reception at the rate of a tablet for each individual. Further, it is recommended to give pets a drug up to five months of age with a mandatory twenty-day break.

Preventive reception "Biovita" against infectious diseases starts from two months of age. A monthly acceptance of funds is required to get a good result.
Some poultry farmers use the Litovchenko scheme when feeding young stock. According to her recommendations, within 3 months it is necessary to give the poults 20 grams of “Furazolidone” (per one individual). Also shown is the 3-month trick.

It is advised to dilute a bottle of the drug in a liter of vegetable oil. The finished mixture is best added to a teaspoon, focusing on a kilogram of feed. Blue iodine at the rate of 20 drops of a substance per liter of boiling water must be poured into the trough. It is necessary to add there and a tablespoon of starch. Once a week is required to give kids "Streptomycin." In the proportion of a gram of the drug per liter of liquid. Twice a month from three weeks of age, it is advised to give Metronidazole at the rate of 20 grams per kilogram of feed. It is necessary to make a mandatory two-week break between his receptions. After the appearance of poults into the light, their legs should be moistened with triple cologne. After birth, a two-week intake of calcium is shown. It is best to mix it in dry or liquid form with the main feed of chicks. Probiotics should be taken until turkeys reach eight days of age.

If the turkey is sick

Most often in small turkey poults there is liquid stool. If birds were given a diet with errors, they can respond to brown diarrhea.

In the preparation of the diet should focus on the age of pets and their needs for certain foods. In the case of the introduction of new feed in young stock for a long period, a characteristic yellow stool may be observed. Sometimes it is enough just to cancel the newly introduced product so that the health of the chicks will return to normal. In case of poisoning, the nestling stool will be painted black. The most dangerous is the white color of the chair. It indicates the development in young animals of such infectious diseases as pullorosis and paratyphoid fever.

Infectious sinusitis can affect poults until they reach one month of age. The cause of inflammation of the mucous membranes is the reproduction of microorganisms that affect the sinusitis of the respiratory system. Healthy babies are able to contract the disease from the sick, as well as through feeders and drinkers.

Quite often histomoniasis occurs in young animals. Its causes are usually violations in the care of livestock and low-quality feed. The consequences are the blackening of the limbs and heads of chicks. Also, symptoms of the disease are damage to the liver and cecum, impaired normal blood circulation. Turkey's poults are under the age of 3 months.

Even with preventive measures can not be excluded diseases of young animals. In this case, the affected chicks must be separated separately from the rest, marking it with paint for convenience. Treatment is usually carried out according to this scheme. Twice one-time for the three-day period is given the drug "Metronidazole" in the amount of the pill, but not longer than a ten-day period. Still required to take "Furazolidone" one tablet for an eight-day period. The rest of the livestock is recommended to feed with a solution of potassium permanganate. This effective remedy should be given in the proportion of a gram per 7 liters of water. Not longer than four days.

These are general guidelines for all diseases. Speaking specifically about the most common ones, for example, in case of diarrhea, it is necessary to isolate sick chicks, clean and disinfect the poultry house, change food, give feathery preparations for treatment. Such a drug as "Iodinol" has shown itself to be excellent in the fight against diarrhea. It eliminates inflammation, improves the metabolic processes in the body, is endowed with a wide spectrum of action and a high degree of antimicrobial activity. It happens clean and diluted. It is advised to dilute with water or saline, give the chicks twice daily. But not more than four days. This proven drug is also an excellent prophylactic agent.
